Where most other States in the US have no centralized data policy or standards for their accident reports, Texas has lead the way in centralizing and providing online access to its citizens.
History of Accidents in Rowlett
Unfortunately for the residents of Rowlett, the accident trends of the past few years have been going steadily up. Worse, the year-to-year increases are often significant. At the start of our record, in 2014, there were 407 accidents in Rowlett. The following year, 2015, increased to 490 accidents, a jump of almost 100. The increase in 2016 was even larger, rising to 599 accidents.
2017 also saw an increase in accidents, though fortunately not as high as in previous years. There were 633 accidents in Rowlett in 2017, an increase of 34 accidents. It's still an increase, but the rate of increase is a fraction of the previous three years.
Finally, 2018 saw better news for the residents of Rowlett--the accident rate finally went down. Unfortunately, at 590 accidents for the whole year, it was nowhere near the numbers seen in 2014.
Rowlett is in Dallas County, and with the inclusion of a city the size of Dallas, the population of the county is huge (over 2.6 million as of 2018). The rate of accidents is therefore relatively high, even allowing for the fact that Dallas rush hour is downright speedy compared to commutes in most other major American cities.
Even allowing for the fact that traffic rates in the county are one year behind Rowlett's records, the trend is comparable (if slightly off in 2017).

History of Fatalities in Rowlett
Unfortunately for the residents of Rowlett, the rate of fatal accidents in the area followed a similar trend to the overall rate of accidents for the last five years. Fortunately, very few of the recorded accidents in Rowlett were fatal.
At the start of our record, in 2014, there was just one fatal accident for the year. The next two years held constant at two accidents each. 2017 was a great year for Rowlett residents in terms of fatal accidents--there were no recorded fatal accidents that year, despite the fact that 2017 saw the most overall accidents in our five-year record. Unfortunately, the highest year-to-year increase in fatal accidents came the following year, with three fatal accidents in 2018. In terms of non-incapacitating accidents, the residents of Rowlett were less lucky. In 2014, there were 60 non-incapacitating injuries within the 407 accidents that occurred that year. The following year, 2015, was slightly better and had 59 non-incapacitating injuries for the 490 accidents that occurred that year.
Dallas County saw much more consistent trends in fatal accidents for the last four years. Sadly for residents, that rate was consistently up for three of the last four years. There were 222 fatal crashes in 2014, 239 fatal crashes in 2015, 288 fatal crashes in 2016, and 263 fatal crashes in 2017.
The county's trend of non-incapacitating injuries was similar to that of Rowlett, with 6,968 injuries in 2014, 7,649 injuries in 2015, 6,643 injuries in 2016, and 8,640 injuries in 2017.
If residents of Rowlett or Dallas County hit the road, it would appear they should be more worried about injuries than fatal accidents. Still, always make sure to drive with care.
