Car Accident Reports
Depending on where your accident occurred there are potentially 3 Police Agencies that could have attended your accident and completed the report.
ALL of these agencies use the the Texas DOT CRIS (Crash Report Information System) and so obtaining a copy of your report from any of them is relatively easy.
McAllen Accident Reports Online
- Texas DOT - Crash Reports and Records: There is no better place place than directly from the DOT for an official copy of your accident report. The Texas DOT is one of the (if not THE) most advanced State DOT’s in the United States. Where most other States in the US have no centralized data policy or standards for their accident reports, Texas has lead the way in centralizing and providing online access to its citizens.
History of Accidents in McAllen
The border city of McAllen, a community of more than 142,000 just a bit more than an hour’s drive from the Gulf Coast, went through a five-year period where accident volumes increased to a peak before slowly beginning to show signs of creeping back downwards. The fewest annual accidents in McAllen occurred in 2014, where there were just 2,574 crashes on record; this figure would increase over the next three years, as 2015 saw rates rise to 2,851 for the year, 2016’s total annual accidents increased yet again to 2,989, and 2017 broke 3,000 accidents a year when rates peaked at 3,113. This growing trend then showed signs of reversal when 2018’s accident volume was recorded at just 2,893.
Examining the five-year trend in McAllen would make anyone wonder what kinds of road conditions led to a jump in accident volumes, but it’s not necessarily something that’s happening only in McAllen’s city limits. In fact, accident rates throughout the US underwent a very similar increase over the same time period, culminating in a peak in 2016 before beginning to decline once more in 2017 and 2018. In fact, national crash statistics reveal that 2016 had the highest accident rate in eight years.
It’s true that McAllen’s accident rates continued to increase in 2017 and only began to decline once more in 2018, which places them in an atypical position compared to the national average. However, it’s also true that Texas is one of the most accident-prone states in the nation thanks to both its burgeoning population and its sheer size. This makes it highly likely that Texas accident rate trends might lag behind the national average in some regions such as McAllen. However, overall the city is exhibiting the same general volume trends that the rest of the country is.
